Filoli Estate, Woodside, California

Scottish Dancing with The Red Thistle Dancers and Red Thistle Music

The Red Thistle Dancers, accompanied by Red Thistle Music,  performed at the Filoli Historic House and Gardens during the estate's holiday season in festive and authentic Victorian dress with a program of Scottish Country and Highland Dance and music.  The dancing program took place in Filoli's historic and magnificent ballroom, a elegant room featuring water-green walls, murals by Ernest Peixotto, 22 foot ceilings and magnificent crystal chandeliers and sconces for illumination.

Designed between 1915 – 1917 and set against the dramatic backdrop of the northern Santa Cruz Mountains in Woodside, California, Filoli is an excellent example of the Golden Age of American garden design and country house architecture.

Designed by Willis Polk and noted for its elegant interiors, the house is an interpretive museum exhibit for an extensive collection of 17th and 18th century English antiques.

Filoli was opened to the public in 1976 as a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and features large themed gardens, heritage orchards, and a trail system. 16–acre English Renaissance Garden.  Filoli is recognized as one of the finest remaining country estates of the early 20th century and is a cherished resource for the community.
